Rafter and Stair Jigs
John Carroll demonstrates a couple of cool jigs for laying out rafters and stairs
John Carroll, a North Carolina author and building contractor, has a few good reasons for making these jigs: First, it's easier to visualize the cuts with a jig than with any manufactured tool. Second, a jig is very effective for making fast, repetitive layouts, and third, the plumb edge is used as a cutting guide for a circular saw. The time invested in building the jigs pays off with time saved by the end of the job.
